If you want to make a game, I'd strongly recommend that you just commit to learning https://github.com/Zylann/godot_voxel, and drop the idea of doing everything yourself. It's an excellent library, is very flexible, and will almost certainly suit your needs once you learn how to use it. It won't do biomes for you (although it gives you everything you need to do them yourself), but it will handle a lot of busywork, like swapping chunks in and out at appropriate times and removing hidden geometry, which are things that would take a LONG time to do yourself, but are 100% essential to making a large voxel world with decent performance. It's still going to take a lot of effort to make a proper game, but using the plugin will save you hundreds of hours of work.
