Okay i think i got it, check out gluetun they have support for a number of options and i believe a socks5 proxy is one of them. I hope this helps, if you need an example of how to route other containers through this i can share a compose.yml file i have for my homelab.
I found the way bubuntux has done it with his NordVPN container quite elegant: here
I used redsocks (https://github.com/darkk/redsocks) for that, but with completely external proxies. However, this solution requires configuring iptables rules inside the container, which may be unsuitable for your usecase
