Anyway, the first thing I noticed was the iOS-like launcher. The Bliss launcher (which is the default launcher for the /e/ OS), was very limited. I didn't mind the fact that it looked very much like iOS, I did mind the fact that I couldn't place widgets at my home menu, I couldn't move the apps (they're in alphabetical order by default) and basically the only 'customization' was creating folders of apps. But besides that, there was no customization at all. I can search for apps when I swipe down from the top of my screen, but I still can't really access my installed apps with ease, due to the limited customization. Due to this garbage launcher, I decided to move to Omega launcher, because it looked way better, and it has way more functionality. I won't review this launcher, but I'll just say that I'm very satisfied with this alternative launcher.
eCloud: I haven't tried the eCloud, as I don't want a 3rd party to host my files; whether it's Google, Dropbox, OneDrive, or eCloud, I don't want any 3rd party to have my files. Therefore I'm hosting my own Nextcloud server, and because the eCloud is a fork of Nextcloud, Nextcloud integrates seemingly into my phone. The calendars and contacts are automatically integrated with DAVx5, and the subscriptions with ICSx5, and this is all possible in the default Calendar, and Contacts app, so I'm really happy with that.
Browser: The Bromite fork is pretty good, it does what I want. It's faster than Firefox on my previous phone (Samsung A8 2018) and it's privacy friendly as well. The only thing that annoyed me, was that my password manager (Self-hosted Vaultwarden / Bitwarden) didn't get the current URL from the browser passed. So when I wanted to autofill my user data, it didn't know on which website I was, therefore it just showed all my accounts, and I had to manually search for the correct account. Due to this, I switched to the original Bromite, on which the original Browser was based on.
Maps (or MagicEarth as they call it): It's not open-source, which already creates suspicion for me, but apparently the devs of Magic Earth assured the team of /e/ OS that it's very privacy friendly, and no data is being stolen, sold or captured. Ok, so I decided to use it, and it turns out that when I use the app offline, it can't find my location for some unknown reason. I'm a person who uses map application offline a lot, and I was annoyed by this, so I switched to Organic Maps, which has all the functionality I need; it can search for routes offline, has a night mode, and can actually track where I am, without needing Wi-Fi access, contrary to Magic Earth.
eCloud: I haven't tried the eCloud, as I don't want a 3rd party to host my files; whether it's Google, Dropbox, OneDrive, or eCloud, I don't want any 3rd party to have my files.
