Need help with updating the firmware on an ESP-12E

So, I'm using a Teensy 4.0 on top of an expansion board (Arduino-Teensy4). Said expansion board houses an ESP-12E which is connected to the Teensy via RX/TX. The ESP is only used for WiFi connectivity, no actual program code resides on there, that is handled by the Teensy itself.
