Is there a way to further reduce input lag on games? Particularly Elite Dangerous

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/linux_gaming

Our great sponsors
  • InfluxDB - Collect and Analyze Billions of Data Points in Real Time
  • Mergify - Updating dependencies is time-consuming.
  • SonarQube - Static code analysis for 29 languages.
  • proton-ge-custom

Compatibility tool for Steam Play based on Wine and additional components

  • MangoHud

A Vulkan and OpenGL overlay for monitoring FPS, temperatures, CPU/GPU load and more. Discord: https://discordapp.com/invite/Gj5YmBb

Try turning on Freesync/adaptive sync and then capping to just below your refresh rate (140 fps would be reasonable) with mangohud. This should give you input lag that is close to the ideal case of VSync off (which doesn't work on Wayland right now) while still preventing tearing.

  • InfluxDB

Collect and Analyze Billions of Data Points in Real Time. Manage all types of time series data in a single, purpose-built database. Run at any scale in any environment in the cloud, on-premises, or at the edge.
