if it's not a mobile, age (https://github.com/FiloSottile/age/releases) is by the person who leads the security team for the Go Language project. age can do asymmetric encryption, if your recipient has or can create and send you an age public key. Or use it in normal password mode and send the password on a voice call or something out of band some others have mentioned gpg; everything about age applies to gpg also; age is just better/newer algorithms etc
if "store-and-serve" is OK, and especially when neither party wants to install a new tool, there's firefox send, or rather any number of clones (see https://github.com/timvisee/send-instances/ for a list). You're trusting that the encryption is happening, so that is not good enough don't use this
