Fd is indeed a great tool. Fzf is also a great tool. And if you use fd as the search utility for fzf (for example, export FZF_DEFAULT_COMMAND='fd --type f) then it becomes really good.
For me, it is additionally bat as an alternative to cat and fzf.
There's also skim! Which is an fzf-like implemented in rust. Last time I tested them it was about 10 times faster than fzf. That was a while ago though.
