There is this SO post, which looks nice, but I don't understand why @classmethod is being used as I am not familiar with this level of OOP, but more importantly I don't know the significance of using a classmethod in this case, or if this is just this individual's preference as opposed to a best practice. For example, reading Miguel Grinberg's Flasky models.py example, there are no classmethods used. I would be more inclined to follow this design simply because I've learned most stuff from reading his resources. So my first question is about what best practices there are for this, and whether anyone has any links to a tutorial on how to improve models that actually explains the reasoning.
