For python and programming in general, try contributing to an open source project. If you want something Python specific, more work needs to be done on a number of projects. This very Mathy one come to mind: https://github.com/symengine/symengine.py
Project Euler of course is terrific; another source is https://leetcode.com/problemset/all/ I imagine there's some overlap, though.
