I have seen this on Windows but I don't use the machine enough to dig into it. Here, I would grab a profile via https://profiler.firefox.com
I'm still not convinced, Chromium is a popular open-source project, it makes sense that more research goes into it.
I have been using ShadowFox for years and that fixes both problems you mentioned. Maybe check it out, this is what it looks like with Proton.
