Desktop client: backup of messages + media?

  Export messages from Signal Desktop

I wrote a program which can export messages (in plain text) and media from Signal Desktop. It runs on Linux, and maybe also on macOS. It might not be exactly what you'd consider simple. But I'm not aware of an easier alternative. If you need help, feel free to let me know.

You can try https://github.com/liroyvh/signal-export instead of the sigtop one isn’t working. This worked for me on my Mac. Linux is supported too.
