ffxiv-ember-overlay
Powerful, data-focused DPS overlay and spell timers for Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV). Can be used with the OverlayPlugin and ACTWebSocket plugins for Advanced Combat Tracker (ACT). Updated for Endwalker.
ACT - The damage parser, first and foremost. Everything else in this section is basically a layer on top of ACT. Follow this guide to set it up: https://github.com/FFXIV-ACT/setup-guide
Cactbot - Gives you DBM/BigWigs style warnings and timer bars in raid content. Also has other useful plugins such as cause of death and Eureka plugin trackers. Will start an argument in The Balance whenever you bring it up. https://github.com/quisquous/cactbot
Triggernometry - Arbitrary code execution based on events that happen in the XIV battle log. Can do things like press buttons for you, or overlay graphics on your screen based on certain conditions (Basically WeakAuras). Also has a pretty robust community repo of prebuilt things. https://github.com/paissaheavyindustries/Triggernometry/releases
Gets its own subsection. Basically Windower from XI if you played that game and remember it. If not, it's a third party launcher that has support for community developed addons, some of which people have come to not live without. Things like collectable tracking (Do you have this triple triad card already?), mouseover macro functionality, PvP-like combo systems, deleting Lalafell from the game, and much more. https://github.com/goatcorp/FFXIVQuickLauncher
The most popular UI skin is Material UI (https://github.com/skotlex/ffxiv-material-ui). Many users find it clean compared to the base UI. I used to use it too, but for now it doesn't play nice with the HD UI added in 5.5, and I prefer HD icons and stuff to the color scheme they use. It is the premiere UI mod for XIV though.
Not sure it qualifies as a "mod", but XIVAlexander is a godsend for double weaving if you have latency. https://github.com/Soreepeong/XivAlexander
I'd also recommend ZeffUI which is actually Cactbot preset now. If you have Cactbot installed then all you need to do is create a new Overlay and select ZeffUI as a preset. I use it to track my raid buffs and it's really just a not clunky as shit version of SpecialSpellTimer/HojoRing for viewing how long raid buffs will last for and when they'll come off cooldown. Here's an example of what it looks like it from the github page. Super easy to set up and use.
Buttplug.io : for when you really want to feel the tankbuster.
Unless you want to overly edit your hojoring timers, you can try ember : https://github.com/GoldenChrysus/ffxiv-ember-overlay
