I work in a medical imaging company (brain tractography). I'm a C++ and Python programmer. My boss asked me to create a proof of concept of a trk reader in Rust 3 years ago. It went so well that I've been porting Python to Rust in the last 3 years. I even ported some C++ code. Not for the speed because we thought it would be as fast or maybe a little faster, but to avoid dependency that we didn't want.
