  • UTM

Virtual machines for iOS and macOS

  • If you just want to run Linux applications within iOS, then iSH might be an option, except it doesn't support iOS 10 or older. There's also UTM, but it also doesn't support iOS 10.

  • iOS-OTA-Downgrader

Discontinued A multi-purpose script to save blobs, restore, and jailbreak supported legacy iOS devices [Moved to: https://github.com/LukeZGD/Legacy-iOS-Kit]

  • Yes, I believe so. It looks like you can untethered downgrade to iOS 8.4.1 using iOS-OTA-Downgrader or a similar tool. If you want to go to other iOS versions, I found a tool called n1ghtshade that can downgrade to lower firmwares, but this will be tethered if you don't have blobs (not sure if it can be untethered if you do have blobs). I only found about n1ghtshade today, and the issues tab has a few people saying they couldn't get iPhone 5 downgrades working, though some people have been successful, YMMV.
