Command-line program to download videos from YouTube.com and other video sites (by animelover1984)
I would say "open an issue", but that's not (yet?) possible at the moment. He started his fork mainly in order to get his fixes/improvements to be implemented in the main yt-dlc repo. Maybe ask him in the thread there, which I mentioned earlier.
It does have some significant features to offer. Check the changelog. The most important additions in my repo are: 1. Sponskrub integration 2. Updated to latest version of youtube-dl 3. A ton of new ways to do format selection. For example, I noticed that the OP is using -f bestvideo[height<=1080][ext=mp4]+bestaudio[ext=m4a]/best[ext=mp4]/best. A similar effect can be achieved in my fork simply using -S ext:mp4:m4a,res:1080. No more long and tedious format strings
The issue is #17636 and if you read the comments the current dev is in a snit about something regarding this patch, though for the life of me I can't figure out what. I don't think upvoting will help because from where I sit it looks like he's just being an ass about it, but maybe I'm wrong. Feel free to try to persuade him but I'll be shocked if you have any luck. This, to me, is exactly what's wrong with the original - how many fixes has he just passed on because of some incomprehensible reason that makes no sense to anyone but him?
If the yt-dlc fork revives, I expect/hope that /u/pukkandan will again cooperate with Blackjack. It would indeed be better, if the maintainer of the fork you mentioned earlier, would join forces.
