NVR with realtime local object detection for IP cameras

  • I'm currently experimenting with Frigate, which is still in very active development and might not be quite ready for primetime and is really designed to integrate with HomeAssistant, and it does a two-pass approach where it looks for pixels that changed, then it runs the area that changed through a neural net to detect what it might be using AI. If it detects 'person', 'car', ... with some certainty, it can trigger different recording settings or actions as a result. I believe many other NVRs are starting to integrate this, although they mostly use it to reduce false-positives rather than provide actionable per-category alerts like Frigate does (via HomeAssistant).
