If you're interested in learning to build Audio Units, it can be a uphill battle. Most of the examples are very minimal and incomplete. When I started out, there was no complete synthesizer or effect that had been open sourced so I had to stumble through a lot of weird bugs, edge cases, and incomplete examples to build Spectrum.

Spectrum's powered by open source. The main DSP code is based on Mutable Instruments code(1), which Emilie has graciously open sourced for many years. Her code has inspired and empowered countless little synth designers like myself to make something else of value, so I figured it was sort of my responsibility to do the same and share what I've learnt.
