https://github.com/Rolv-Apneseth/rofi-games theres this on Linux that is absolutely beautiful and lets you launch games without steam. The one thing is that it's still more convenient to buy games through Steam than anywhere else, but even then you could buy from anywhere or pirate it and even add it to your library.
