If you want something closer to Debian, perhaps consider SpiralLinux. It's basically Debian with some quality-of-life additions. It also does a good job at giving access to other repositories very easy through some of their GUI tools.

You'd have to tell us which packages you wanted to dig deeper. I can tell you're off-aim with yt-dlp. Per the instructions from the developers, if you wanted to use apt to download/update it, you're supposed to add the yt-dlp PPA and not rely on Debian's OR Ubuntu's repository. https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp/wiki/Installation
