Which platform are you on? If it’s macOS, I’ve got a series of patches that fix handling of all font weights, widths, ascent/descent for regular and small size, adds line height setting to the font itself (not the existing line-spacing that only works if there are several lines and sticks your text at the top of the line), and other improvements in text rendering and text decorations. On macOS there's just no handling of all font weights and widths that Emacs supports and shows you in the drop down lists for some reason. I've extracted the patch to support all the values so that you can use it to fix your issue: https://github.com/yaglo/emacs-mac-patches/blob/main/fix_weights_and_widths.diff
