  • Lemmy

🐀 A link aggregator and forum for the fediverse

  • I'd suggest Lemmy which is a federated version of Reddit (similar to Mastodon:Twitter). I use an app called Jerboa for Lemmy, it is a bit buggy, the user experience is still lacking, and finding a server to create your account with isn't the easiest. But it's a start...

  • Reddit

  • With open source those who were motivated could probably adjust the user-agent in line with the API rules and be OK for personal use through the free-tier API access.

  • jerboa

A native android app for Lemmy

  • Both Beehaw and Lemmy.ml have been slammed recently, and it's been extremely active. You can use the Android app Jerboa to navigate it on mobile; I think you'll find a very familiar-feeling interface. ;)

  • MarginaliaSearch

Internet search engine for text-oriented websites. Indexing the small, old and weird web.

  • There are a few search engines I've found geared towards finding interesting small sites. Less focus on curation but you can find some interesting stuff. I've been enjoying the "random" button on https://search.marginalia.nu/ a lot.

NOTE: The number of mentions on this list indicates mentions on common posts plus user suggested alternatives. Hence, a higher number means a more popular project.
