Around half of Aussie adults attend the dentist at least once annually, which is lower than most other countries with similar wealth (the United States is another outlier) and puts people at risk of complications from preventable issues. Cost is consistently cited as the primary reason for avoidance, and there is very limited public funding for dental care in Australia.
