As a lot of avid ffmpeg distributors and the ffmpeg project itself may tell you, it is verboten to distribute a compiled version of ffmpeg with libfdk_aac and GPL parts (such as x264), or really any combination of --enable-gpl and --enable-nonfree. This is the bane of everyone that uses ffmpeg, as they have to compile their own and pinky swear to never send it to anyone if they want both at the same time. Just ask handbreak about it -- they used to do it, until someone informed them that it's wrong.
Well, everyone except ffmpeg-for-homebridge. The ffmpeg binary produced actually yells about how it "is not legally redistributable" as I raised on https://github.com/homebridge/ffmpeg-for-homebridge/issues/52, but our esteemed gentleman from (checks profile) North Dakota u/donavanbecker cites FDK's license about how it is redistributable under such and such terms. Well my dear friend, it is redistributable on its own, but not when you link it with GPL parts!
