I'm really having a hard time understanding all the hate that is generated towards monetizing a multi million loc codebase. How should this even be maintainable, in a world where open source lacks in trust, where companies are relying on OSS to ship their product and generate profits without sharing the cake with others. This is sadly the reality, and then people are complaining about Qt LTS becoming commercial-only? - Come on guys, you're using this product for free. If you're not scared on loosing any profit on your product by going open-source yourself anyway and do not want to share some of the cake otherwise, I seriously have a doubt in humanity. There is still the possibility to stick with the release cycles and get the freshest version free (where the most recent bug fixes are also included).
Qt mono repo : .. you could check out all submodules and simply use CMake to exactly achieve this. A mono repo also means that if I only use qtbase and declarative, I would need to have all submodules in there? - No
