Is your battery working/charging correctly? If so, then it's a matter of finding and picking which kexts/drivers you need for your trackpad. You haven't listed what you've tried so far, so I would suggest VoodooPS2 to start, since it will attach itself to any just about pointing device. The 7480 was my daily driver for about a year, and the trackpad was finicky. It's an I2C ALPS, but was incredibly glitchy using VoodooI2C. Hopefully yours is different.
