  • GDevelop

:video_game: Open-source, cross-platform game engine designed to be used by everyone.

  • If you're mainly interested in getting quickly into Game Development without even lite coding, I've been pointing folks to GDevelop as a FOSS (Free and Open-Source Software) option. Which uses a Block-based scripting style.

  • java-programming

  • The course you select should features at least one module on "Object Oriented Programming" (OOP) concepts. This is important, because Godot's Scene and Node concept is very similar to the concepts of objects in programming languages like Java, Python, etc. I like the Java MOOC course, because it covers a lot of programming fundamentals as well as OOP concepts. I can see why it might be unappealing (not used with Godot, not directly related to games), but it really does a good job of explaining some concepts that you will need to know when you try to make games.

NOTE: The number of mentions on this list indicates mentions on common posts plus user suggested alternatives. Hence, a higher number means a more popular project.
