Otherwise, why don't you try to find a different game in the hobby that supports your character idea and style of play? There are TONS of great systems out there. For example the Powered by the Apocalypse 'mechanic' is used by a lot of narrative-driven or Fiction First games, such as Ironsworn. It's marketed and designed as a self-contained solo system, but it can be easily played with a group. It's also super hackable, as the SRD is in Creative Commons, there are a LOT of hacks for it already, like Delves and Denizens that makes it more DnD-like, or Arcanum, which adds high magic. It's also super easy to learn, as the actual rules in the FREE core is less than 25 pages!
