  • If you don't have much math, then markdown my be an alternative to focus on the content. And with pandoc, you either export the thing into .docx/.odt for the PI to add his/her notes, or an other format of your liking. There are some demos and a test pad; a bunch of tutorials (including inclusion of illustrations and a bibliography) on youtube, too. (Not to forget r/markdown, and r/pandoc).
