I think that AGI is literally almost here already. All you need to do is hook up ChatGPT/GPT-4 to a properly constructed cognitive architecture like what David Shapiro's come up with for his upcoming "RAVEN" project https://github.com/daveshap/raven and you'll be there. All you need is a sufficiently complex LLM connected in a loop to a module for efficient long term memory, a module for inferring cause and effect, a module for making predictions about the world based upon its previous memories, a module for predicting potential actions to take, and a module for choosing the best action and acting upon it and you would have an AGI or soon to be AGI. There's already been some promising experimentation and it'll definitely happen within a year.
