I have a very similar setup, although I opted for the n5100. On the n5100, I run Proxmox with a couple VMs for different things. One VM is Home Assistant, which is used as a front-end for viewing stats, as well as hosting a Node Red addon, and ESPHome. ESPHome is a super friendly way to manage ESP32/ESP8266 programming, and is fully integrated with Home Assistant.
