If you have a new, never configured, unused M1 you can use it as described above. If the M1 has already been configured (at least) once, then there are two possibilities: 1. factory reset (then it is like a new one). 2. you have to find out the essential configuration data (PW, IP, port and if necessary remote control settings). Hopefully the previous owner has documented this data. But if not ... The difficulty is that the PW was stored on Slingmedia's servers. Normally the user never saw or experienced the PW assigned by Slingmedia during configuration. But it was possible to read it from the Slingmedia servers. Probably very few people did that before Slingmedia/Dish shut down the servers.
