What about using Reproduction carts as a means of just being "functional". I like having access to a physical version of a cartridge even if I play it an emulator. I know in my original post I mentioned playing on original hardware, but I am currently working on building myself a Sanni Cartridge Reader, if I don't want to just download a ROM off the internet and emulate it, are repros a good way to have a physical version of the cart and then just extract the ROM myself (I get it's more of a legal gray area considering it's still a "black market" ROM)
