Some common faults to look for are "A0801002", which usually means you've got bad capacitors and "A0403034", which means that your RSX (the gpu) has died, likely due to BGA/Bump defects. You're likely out of luck if your RSX has died, unless you're willing to replace it with a newer RSX (like the 40nm ps3 slim RSX), which is commonly known as the frankenstein mod.
