How come there are no errors for declaring the same output variable twice?

  • So then this is the domain of linters. I suspect many who code in a language like rust assume that a linter has little room. But this is a classic example of where a linter will catch higher order problems that the compiler isn't interested in. I'm not familiar enough with clippy to know which rule would prevent this, or if there's even a rule. However, that's where I'd look.
