2) My next piece was a Bakelite countertop radio (30s or 40s) for which I ended up going with a Pi and HiFiBerry. I used a Pi-specific display and https://github.com/lukasjapan/bt-speaker for track data. It was a lot of work to fit everything into the small housing in a way that made sense and didn't negatively impact audio quality too much, but it still sort of feels unfinished to me, somehow. This would have been a great candidate for a PCB solution like the one you shared.
3) In progress: a Philco free-standing radio housing from the 40s. I'm using one of Parts Express' boombox kits for the audio, and a Pi (with a long, narrow TFT) running https://github.com/karlstav/cava where the radio frequency display used to be. This also would be a nice candidate for a solution like the one you shared.
