I notice that there aren't many gaming engines that support Ruby script. I'm considering working on a more manageable project that will incorporate MRuby into the Love engine.

This page summarizes the projects mentioned and recommended in the original post on /r/ruby

  • mrbweb-v

A test project that uses mruby to improve the processing of binary code.

  • mrbweb-v (repository)

    The Ruby Programming Language

  • Matz's Ruby programming language has been simplified into MRuby. It is a scripting language that is almost universally usable. As far as integration into a virtual environment is concerned, it makes me think a lot of the Lua scripting language.

  • Lua

Lua is a powerful, efficient, lightweight, embeddable scripting language. It supports procedural programming, object-oriented programming, functional programming, data-driven programming, and data description.

  • love

LÖVE is an awesome 2D game framework for Lua.

  • A Lua script can be used to access the C++-written LOVE Engine, which is a gaming engine. Lua can therefore invoke functions that have already been written in C++.

  • Taylor

A simple game engine built using raylib and mruby (by HellRok)

  • You may want to check Tailor, I see it as the open source alternative to Dragon Ruby event if it's less advanced

  • dragonruby-game-toolkit-contrib

Parts of DragonRuby GameToolkit source released under MIT license.

  • What we can safely open source is here (we try to expand this repo as much as we can): https://github.com/DragonRuby/dragonruby-game-toolkit-contrib
