Hi,
https://mach3db.com is now a frontend to search Wikipedia and Stack Overflow article titles.
Right now I only have simple substring search to reduce load on my server.
The results are clickable links that point to lightweight versions of Wikipedia and Stack Overflow articles.
Please give it a try!
It works best in the Vivaldi browser: https://vivaldi.com/
Stack Overflow results can also be filtered by minimum number of comments.
Please email [email protected] if you are interested in our blazing fast PostgreSQL compatible hosted database solution.
We also offer NocoDB (https://nocodb.com/) and Grist (https://www.getgrist.com/) high speed hosted instances.
Thanks!

Project mention: A simple way to explore data through a Tableau-like UI directly in your data app | news.ycombinator.com | 2024-12-30
Contributor to panel-graphic-walker and Panel here.
Its actually primarily a wrapper around graphic-walker https://github.com/Kanaries/graphic-walker as we have optimized the implementation for Panel usage in notebooks and data apps.
Its built on Panel https://panel.holoviz.org/index.html which is "The Powerful Data Exploration & Web App Framework for Python". Its a fully open source and community driven project. Part of the larger HoloViz https://github.com/holoviz/holoviz ecosystem for data visualization.
My motivation for creating the panel-graphic-walker extension is that its one of the most powerful ways in Python to let users interactively, explore large datasets as it can send heavy calculations to the backend instead of transferring all data to the frontend.

Project mention: Ask HN: Recommendation for Front End development sources for Back end Developer | news.ycombinator.com | 2024-12-09
You can pretty quickly put something together using MUI.com, their community templates (https://mui.com/store/#populars), or their low-code framework (https://mui.com/toolpad/).
I learned all my frontend stuff on LinkedIn Learning (formerly Lynda). My colleague likes frontendmasters.com.
If you're used to writing a lot of APIs and backend stuff, the frontend world is different in that it's a lot declarative markup and not as much logic. There's almost no OOP in frontend anymore; it's mostly just a bunch of HTML (or JSX, which is basically React-in-XML-that-looks-like-HTML). The JS array and object "iterable" methods (map, filter, flatMap, etc.) are used a lot, but not really for data manipulation, just to put response objects on-screen.
Take a look at some of the example MUI templates to get an idea of how these things are put together. Once you do one or two it should become pretty straightforward.
There's a lot of 80/20 stuff in the frontend, as in you can get the basics of it pretty quickly, and then spend a lifetime diving into CSS rules and all that. But with MUI, you don't really need to drop down to that level of detail – it's all abstracted into well-documented and well-tested components with their own APIs.
