⚡️ A minimal portfolio template for Developers

Project mention: CSS not being applied in Github Pages deployment? | reddit.com/r/github | 2023-01-07

Interesting. So its a personal portfolio template on Github that was recommended while taking an online web development course for students to build their project portfolios with called simplefolio https://github.com/cobiwave/simplefolio. Why would they style it with scss if it isn't browser compatible? But yeah I just cloned that repo, followed the readme, added my own info and projects, and pushed it to a new repo.

Project mention: Laying Out a Print Book with CSS | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-03-20

I love reading printed books and blog posts. For those interested, a starting point for printable CSS is Gutenberg[1]. This has been my go-to for the print media in CSS. I believe I stopped looking for another one with my lack of deeper involvement in development of styles.

I'm also guilty of picking Baskerville as the default classic look to printable font-family and even had resorted to it for screen.

Besides the tools mentioned in the article (Vellum and Atticus), Ulysses also has a good option for print-ready output.

  • include-media

    Project mention: Is this possible in Sass ? | reddit.com/r/css | 2023-03-03

I‘d use https://eduardoboucas.github.io/include-media/ instead, it combines all media queries on compile which will result in smaller CSS files.

  • animxyz

The first truly composable CSS animation library. Built for Vue, React, SCSS, and CSS, AnimXYZ will bring your website to life.

    Project mention: Thoughts on Svelte | news.ycombinator.com | 2023-03-27

Vue handles it just fine with doing the hard work behind the scenes and just passing you some CSS classes to connect your animations to (and there are JS events to use as well if you need a JS animation). Main difference is Svelte gets the benefit of being able to do some fancier stuff like items changing order or doing more than just entering/exiting. Vue has this as well, but not as easy to use.

That being said I overall prefer the Vue CSS approach to animation, it inspired my brother and I to make https://animxyz.com which has been my most successful side project yet. We wanted to make it work for Svelte as well but they don't have the CSS classes so we can't hook into their events the same.
