  • GitHub repo traefik

    The Cloud Native Application Proxy

    Project mention: Building a bare-metal Kubernetes cluster on Raspberry Pi | dev.to | 2021-11-26

K3s comes by default with traefik as the ingress controller. I heard great things about it, but I prefer to use ingress-nginx. This is simply because I'm more familiar with it. You can choose pretty much any ingress controller you want for Kubernetes, so pick one according to your own preferences.

  • GitHub repo fabio

    Consul Load-Balancing made simple

    Project mention: HashiCorp Consul: What's the catch? | reddit.com/r/devops | 2021-09-04

  • GitHub repo metallb

A network load-balancer implementation for Kubernetes using standard routing protocols

Project mention: Port management in your local Kubernetes cluster | dev.to | 2021-11-28

My latest attempt was MetalLB. Even though I didn't manage to make it work, it bound port 8080 on my machine: none of my other regular Spring demos could work.

  • GitHub repo sidekick

High Performance HTTP Sidecar Load Balancer (by minio)

Project mention: Node failure in a distributed minio cluster | reddit.com/r/minio | 2021-03-11

Sidekick would be the recommended route (https://github.com/minio/sidekick). Other load balancers will work but can struggle with high I/O workloads and Sidekick is also incredibly simple to set up so that is a plus as well. Outside of some sort of load balancer, some people elect for RRDNS but that doesn't take nodes out of the available pool so isn't used as often.

  • GitHub repo DisPro

SOCKS5/Transparent load balancing proxy developed in Go, combines multiple internet connections.

    Project mention: Advice to aggregate/load balance 2 to 4 Ethernet connections | reddit.com/r/homelab | 2021-11-09

I want all my (Ethernet) devices to be able to access the full 2Gb and not be stuck to 1Gb because of the box. The ISP’s box doesn’t support true link aggregation. Currently, my main computer have 2 Ethernet port directly connected to the box and I use dispro to load balance them locally and access the full 2Gbs. speedtest
