  • metallb

A network load-balancer implementation for Kubernetes using standard routing protocols

    Project mention: Moving to Kubernetes | reddit.com/r/kubernetes | 2022-01-13

Are you working with on-premise compute resources or public-cloud based ones? In the latter case, I'd like to point out the need to choose and deploy an Ingress Controller behind which deploy the PHP-powered sites (to minimize the need for public IPs). If the former, you can easily go with MetaLB https://metallb.universe.tf/ to expose each "site" directly, but an Ingress Controller like Kong, Traefik v2 or others could be however handy to accomodate specific needs (OAuth/JWT to access one or more of these, for example). The PHP-enabled website could be deployed with a "multi-container" Pod/Deployment setup as, for example, described here https://matthewpalmer.net/kubernetes-app-developer/articles/php-fpm-nginx-kubernetes.html

Kubernetes Control Plane Virtual IP and Load-Balancer

    Project mention: 1 CPU per kubernetes node? | reddit.com/r/kubernetes | 2022-01-15

Look into kube-vip. Virtual IP for your control planes. Saves you the resources of having to run a separate VM to load balance them.

  • sidekick

High Performance HTTP Sidecar Load Balancer (by minio)

Project mention: Node failure in a distributed minio cluster | reddit.com/r/minio | 2021-03-11

Sidekick would be the recommended route (https://github.com/minio/sidekick). Other load balancers will work but can struggle with high I/O workloads and Sidekick is also incredibly simple to set up so that is a plus as well. Outside of some sort of load balancer, some people elect for RRDNS but that doesn't take nodes out of the available pool so isn't used as often.

  • DisPro

SOCKS5/Transparent load balancing proxy developed in Go, combines multiple internet connections.

    Project mention: Advice to aggregate/load balance 2 to 4 Ethernet connections | reddit.com/r/homelab | 2021-11-09

I want all my (Ethernet) devices to be able to access the full 2Gb and not be stuck to 1Gb because of the box. The ISP’s box doesn’t support true link aggregation. Currently, my main computer have 2 Ethernet port directly connected to the box and I use dispro to load balance them locally and access the full 2Gbs. speedtest
