They probably integrate youtube-dl or the more up-to-date and maintained yt-dlp.

Now a wild guess on the why of that, it may be because it doesn't use ffmpeg From what i read Powertube is a client for YouTube-dl[1] which is very outdated by now(so much that now there is a fork called youtube-dlp[2] and now it's what people use ) but the thing in those is that they don't donwload things in mp3 they use ffmpeg to convert it so I guess powertube just doesn't have that

Super lightweight portable downloader
yt-dlp (https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp) is a fork of a project called youtube-dl (https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl). That project still exists and many people still use it. Although not the original-original "youtube-dl" project GitHub repository, it is considered the current primary master project.

Hi, I was thinking about something for the extractor. (I just recently discovered that technology, so I may say something stupid, please be indulgent) Wouldn't it be possible to compile youtube-dl or yt-dlp in WASM and interface it with Typescript, just like Seal do in Kotlin?

I'm getting invalid redirect_uri parameter authenticating with BDFR
Although I've never used BDFR before, I belive you don't need to register your app to use BDFR because BDFR provides own credentials.
I'm trying to download my upvoted post with BDFR but I kept getting invalid request whenever I try to authenticate.

How to bulk download videos from a subreddit?
wfdownloader can grab videos and it worked fine with the subreddit you gave but there is also bdfr which I also see recommended in this subreddit.
