yomichan VS Memento

I made a Yomichan dictionary from CantoDict, and there are other dictionaries linked made by other people I wanted to share.

I wish I would of known about Yomichan years ago, I can see a lot of work went into the project. Yes, for most web pages a Chrome extension should be able to get the sentence that the word came from. You can use mokuro on any manga you have in digital form to turn the text into selectable text and read it in a PDF reader of your choice. You can then combine this with the Yomichan browser extension and dictionaries of your choice to allow you to instantly look up any unknown word you encounter when reading manga, with a single button press.

Download kiwi browser, after that go to extensions, and download yomichan. Download the dictionaries (they can be use offline). Finally, go to the site https://ttu-ebook.web.app (It can also be use offline), you can read any kind of epub file that you may have within your device. After setting up everything, you can read japanese with the fastest looks ups without using internet.

Consider trying Yomichan. In the popup dictionary, click on the Kanji. If you scroll down, there are a bunch of reference numbers for different Kanji books and dictionaries (including Kodansha Compact Kanji Guide and Kodansha Kanji Dictionary).

I recommend not using English subtitles at all. Better no subs at all than English subs. If you really wanted to understand everything then id recommend a tool like memento that allows you to use yomichan to look up words as you go.

You can get Japanese subtitles from kitsunekko and if you want to use subs on online videos u can use the asbplayer extension or if you want to watch stuff locally you can use Memento it's basically MPV(Video Player) but with yomichan in it so you can look up words quickly and export them to Anki

Start consuming Japanese media. Look up everything you don't know and make flash cards for it in Anki. If you have access to subtitles you can do this with TV shows as well. TVer is good for this. Dramas which get put on TVer have subtitles and if you use something like Memento you can easily generate anki cards from the subtitles while you watch. But try to do this with a wide variety of media like TV Dramas, novels, anime, manga, online posts and news articles etc. The reason being is that you will come across a wide variety of vocabulary by doing this.
