Looking for split keyboard that utilize thumb keys
The YAEMK is one I've been considering myself lately, but you've got a lot of options for split boards. You can look at and directly compare a lot of them here. If you want choc switches, without going to the sub 40% size range then the main options it looks like you have are:

Does anyone other than keeb.io do split keyboards using usb? Rather not use trrs if possible

My first. ErgoDash in a tented case
It would probably be cleaner to just put silicone stickers on a regular case like here: https://karlk90.github.io/yaemk-split-kb/

ErgoDox vs Iris vs Lily58 ?
I was actually most intrigued by the Yaemk, but I think it's a too much DIY for a beginner such as I (no kits available AFAIK, has a disclaimer that it can be challenging for someone with no soldering experience).

List of keyboards by controller / not using pro micro
For reference for anyone that tries it: - the kb2040 works fine for me now in my Fifi, not noticed any issues so far - At the time of writing support is not merged to QMK yet, I used the KarlK90 branch - for the keyboard to work, I only had to change the PIN mappings: from

my work setup is starting to look pretty awesome! New Deskmat
I too have the wireless version for my laptop! Both my Elecom huges have the ball bearing mod. I'd recommend picking some up and doing it, makes the ball so much smoother. Build log is on the Crowboard github page. and I used KMK firmware. Firmware for this particular board is on the Keyboard Dweebs firmware repository. If you wanna take a look at what is needed. It's very straight forward. Easier than QMK in a lot of ways. There is a version of QMK for pico that's being worked on. the branch is here if you're interested. as far as I am aware almost everything is working now too, which is neat. So I'm going to work on getting qmk on the crowboard in the next week or so.

I have built my first keyboard, it is called YAEMK.
Thank you, the layout is available in the my personal qmk repo for key placement see the layout tester or case files. While pro micros are good, I would recommend going with blackpill boards with stm32f411 mcus.
