How to create multiple virtual cameras for an app in development?
I have tested OBS's Virtual Camera feature, but it only provides a single virtual camera from what I've tried. I also tested a piece of software called Webcamoid. It was easy to use, but I couldn't get the MediaStream object from it using Tauri on MacOS for some reason, even though it worked when I opened the test app in Chrome instead. I am not sure it would enable multiple instances either.
- Shout out to webcamoid - a tool that finally allows to take full advantage of modern webcams

Webcam issues
That did not seem to do anything with Cheese, however it lead me down a rabbithole to https://webcamoid.github.io/ with links to virtual camera drivers for "akvcam" and "v4l2loopback" which solved the issue within browser. I installed both, not sure which one was needed.

Installing Debian on a Macbook
IIRC, I made a couple changes to the login config file to enable sleep on lid close. Followed the official page to setup the WiFi driver, and this for the webcam. You might want to check out setting up DKMS for the drivers. Early on I couldn't figure out why updating the kernel causes my WiFi driver to cease working, that was the solution I found.

Have you installed any driver for your webcam? If you haven’t, you can try facetimehd driver in github.

Using Linux Mint as Main OS on 2015 Macbook Pro
I am currently using Debian on my MacBook Air. The broadcom wifi card driver is not in the official repository so I had to use an external wifi dongle when first installing the OS. You might also encounter issues with the webcam, so this link might help. I am also using mbpfan to help with heating issues. Other than that, I haven't had any issues.

- Stuck on "Try Ubuntu" and "Install Ubuntu" page on Mac.
