[OC] Sunpaper - dynamic wallpaper timing based on sunrise and sunset
It uses a little C utility called sunwait to calculate sunrise/sunset times based on latitude-longitude. Sunwait has some configuration options to adjust for altitude, degree angle of the sun, manual time offset, etc. My sunpaper.sh script itself can do offsets as well -- so between the two you should be able to adjust for your mountains.

Night Theme Switcher GNOME Shell Extension
I had a cron job that used sunwait, but it became rather tricky to handle all the edge cases (eg. after suspend). I thought about doing an extension myself, but I'm glad that someone already made this, as I'm a noob and this looks pretty great.
