Replacing default route only via policy/source routing
https://github.com/vyos/vyos-1x/pull/1718 suggests the syntax needed for use in vyos -- by using the command line help, you might get the specific syntax

VyOS support portal migration
NGFW is not a priority for the project, still, we spend a lot of effort on the firewall About T970, it was merged about half a year ago https://github.com/vyos/vyos-1x/pull/1633 Requires testing

What is the correct place to look for interface/api definitions?
It seems to me the correct place to read the definitions would be by cloning https://github.com/vyos/vyos-1x and run `make interface_definitions` and look in `build/interface-definitions`. Is this correct or is it just an intermediate step and it would be better to look in `template-cfg` after running the make command?

New VyOS home router set up. NAT or firewall trouble
I actually looked into this. PR #789 "upnpd: T3420: Support UPNP protocol", which is based on Phabricator T3420 was merged less than a month before my build. This feature is not yet documented, but I did implement it to no avail.

VyOS montly's
I can download 1.3 with my subscription without problems. Just want to test with one of the new 1.4 features in something a bit more stable than nightly.

Static hostname mapping for the VyOS router itself
Not possible as far as I know. You can see it is hard coded in the template file here: https://github.com/vyos/vyos-1x/blob/current/data/templates/vyos-hostsd/hosts.tmpl

The future of VyOS, part 2: the local GUI and the controller
Is this basic gui planned for sometime during the 1.4 releases? Is vycontrol a separate project unrelated to the Gui written about in this blog?

PFSense alternatives, ideally debian based?
There is vyos, which is Debian Based and a Router / Firewall OS. But it does not have a Gui, but rather a Cli Shell Interface. ( https://wiki.vyos.net/wiki/Main_Page ) This Project ( https://github.com/vycontrol/vycontrol ) seems to bring a Gui to Vyos, but I haven't tested it myself.
What are some alternatives?
