vue-cli-plugin-vue-next VS nvm

Finally, our biggest Vue 3 migration issue was the removal of the props sync feature and migrating them to use a v-model prop. Thankfully, we found the Vue Next Plugin which converted code from text.sync=”variable” to v-model:text=”variable”. This did a lot of the heavy lifting, but we also needed to change how components would interact with these props. Previously there was the ability to be able to change them directly, e.g. this.text = “new value”, however we now needed to migrate this to emit an event of change to the parent element. So, we added a new computed property that could handle a set function:

The recommended way to install Node in Non-windows systems is by using a Node Version Manager, in particular nvm.

If there are different projects relying on different versions of Node, I recommend installing a node versioning tool such as nvm.

Our server also needs Node.js to run our app. We could install the binary directly, but I prefer to use a tool called NVM, which allows us to easily manage Node versions. We can install it with this command:

By setting up your environment in isolation, you can prevent yourself from a lot of issues when experimenting with code. It makes your code behave more predictable due to the defined state of the runtime environment you are working with. This article should provide you with enough information to get started, but obviously, there is a lot more power embedded in NVM, Virtual Environment and RBEnv. So make sure to check their documentation.

I highly recommend setting up nodejs with a version manager, nvm was and still is a popular option, however, I now recommend and have been using fnm, a simpler and faster alternative to manage my nodejs versions.
