- [DCS VR] How to force Enable Open XR in DCS world 2.8 easiest way (Reverb G2)
- I’ve recently started playing dcs with an quest 2 VR headset, and I find that especially in dogfight situations I’m cracking my head turning around. Is there a setting that I can use to turn more in game without having to turn my head as much, while still using the headset to look around?

Now that I’ve joined the dark side, I figured to ask: What’s the one thing you most wish you knew when you first started flying in VR?
The VR neck saver mod is very useful. I believe this link will take you to a download: https://gitlab.com/NobiWan/vrnecksafer/-/tree/master/VRNeckSafer/Release

Adjusting pilot head position(forward/backward) while using head tracking
You could try something like Necksafer but I think it only works with VR: https://gitlab.com/NobiWan/vrnecksafer

VRNeckSafer Setup for Dummies
I have installed the program and followed instructions per the readme: https://gitlab.com/NobiWan/vrnecksafer and also watched a couple of videos on YouTube pertaining to setting up VRNeckSafer in IL2, no joy.
- how good is vr compared to head tracking? (DCS)

Real injuries while flying
If you are using a headset other than Index, VR Neck Safer is something you might be interested in. Since the dev doesn't have an Index they can't properly debug issues with Index

Favorite QoL Mods? Knee Board Scratch Pad?
DCS Scratchpad, Open Kneeboard, Joystick Gremlin and HidHide, VoiceAttack, Tacview, and if I may self-promote for a moment, DCS AutoMate.

Backing up DCS regularly
If you use custom mods, some might have their own folders here too. For me, it's just the folder for Scratchpad.

What are some great things that came with 2.8?
Latest update fixes it. (Only read the change log, have not tested myself)

Please can someone explain DCS to me.
For things like changing a radio frequency or turning on/off datalink or TACAN, it's about even. If I'm doing things like manually entering in target coordinates for JDAMs or plugging in my own flight plan on an MP server, it makes life much easier. (For the second scenario I also recommend using DCS Scratchpad.) It's also nice in that it supports various panels multiple aircraft, and the only other thing that I know of which offers even close to equivalent functionality costs several hundred dollars.

Scratchpad 0.5.0 has a new method to add coordinates from the F10 map (especially useful for VR)
You can download the update at https://github.com/rkusa/dcs-scratchpad/releases/tag/0.5.0

Made a DTC app for the F-16. If there is enough interest I'll eventually share it as a mod.
Given it's an enhancement of The Way, most likely not since the F10 map in pancake doesn't operate the same way as the one in VR as far as The Way is implemented. The only one I've had any success with is Scratchpad, which basically gives you a window you can type notes to reference to avoid having to flip back to the F10 map for coordinates.

Learning F-18 in VR
DCS Scratchpad (https://github.com/rkusa/dcs-scratchpad) is also a godsend in VR especially once you start programming JDAMs/JSOWs. The great thing about it is that, if you find it a bit cumbersome to convert chuck's guides into the DCS kneeboard format, you can just list down your own checklist on a notepad and copy paste it into the scratchpad directory.
What are some alternatives?
When comparing vrnecksafer and dcs-scratchpad you can also consider the following projects:
OpenXR-Toolkit - A collection of useful features to customize and improve existing OpenXR applications.
DCSTheWay - Imports waypoints from DCS F10 map into the plane navigation system, like a Data Transfer Cartidge.
