Is my understanding of Vim and Emacs correct?
__org-mode__ Honestly Org mode is pretty incredible. Beside it being the best tool for task management and time tracking it also enables you to do ["literate programming"](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Literate_programming) with its tangle/detangle features. As a vim user I'm seriously jealous. There are plugins trying to bring org-mode to vim https://github.com/nvim-orgmode/orgmode https://github.com/jceb/vim-orgmode (unmaintained) but they can't compare to the org-mode experience in emacs, as far as I know. Also there is a plugin trying to create an org-mode alternative for neovim https://github.com/nvim-neorg/neorg

Why did org mode invent a new markup syntax instead of just going with markdown?
Recently vim got a new package which try to implement org-mode https://github.com/jceb/vim-orgmode.

Why does org-mode have so few github stars?

Working with Emacs and Org-Mode
I can do stuff to my Org files in Vim, but it's not really the same as Org Mode in Emacs.

Ask HN: Looking for the good project/todo management software, even obscure ones
I haven't used it myself but there are projects out there that try to emulate Org-Mode for Vim, e.g. https://github.com/jceb/vim-orgmode.

Show HN: A free alternative to Typora –– IF
I think you should disclose that it is freemium and not FREE. Typora is a one-time buy of $15; the app here, IF, is $3 /mo.
Personally, I have gone through so many productivity note-taking apps that mine are now plain-texts[1] with a tool that can read them. Of course, the texts are spiced with a tad of Markdown for readability and for the tools to make it easier on the eye. Right now, I'm with Obsidian.[2] However, I can move to any tool that does not chew up my content and does its thang on top of it.

Information flow - how I capture the notes
Obsidian, free for personal use, however Sync is paid service. Obsidian is the holly grail of all second brain builders and home of PKM, Zettelkasten or many other methods lovers. Personally, during the first time, I went too deep into this solution. I tried many plugins, and added workflow, task and project management, presentations, and diagrams, without the correct directory structure and idea. Also, I wasn’t struggling with the setting of the Syncing solution, as git crashed from time to time and iCloud worked fine as long as I was using one machine. So switch. Reasons were:

Leaving the Comfort Zone Behind: The Journey to Developing a Plugin for Obsidian.md
In my daily work use of Obsidian.md, something started to stress me out more and more: the way folders behaved when navigating through the vault. If you know Obsidian, you know how valuable it is to keep a clean and organized workspace, especially with a large number of files. But, there was a small feature that was noticeably not there – folders didn’t automatically collapse their subfolders when the parent folder was collapsed. This lack of automatic folder management led to a cluttered and overwhelming sidebar, and it was something I couldn't ignore.

Ask HN: Should I consolidate my blogs into one?
JupyterLab and Notebook offers the most hassle free PDF making experience, besides Obsidian [0]. You have to have LaTeX installed in the system. And if you don't want full fledged ToC support, equation numbering, etc. Although I am sure that there are plugins for that.
I still use LaTeX for book/paper kinds of stuff, but always use JupyterLab or Obsidian otherwise.

Building A SimpleNote to Obsidian notes converter
I like quickly jotting down notes in SimpleNote but after seeing Obsidian pop up all over the web I was curious and decided to try it out. And I liked it, the ability to add more structure and link documents seemed like a great way to build up to a longer post by referencing snippets and sections that I had saved up as un-related notes in SimpleNote.
