Load Balancing
Should you wish to give DSR load balancing a go without having to invest in hardware/licenses you could try https://github.com/davidcoles/vc5
Put that in front of some HAProxy servers to do TLS termination and farm out requests to another layer of NGINX/uWSGI boxes and Robert is your cousins father.

Wanted computer science, got accepted for cyber security
Currently I'm a Site Reliability Engineer at Dropbox but I definitely do things that are more typically done by software engineers in addition to SRE things. Obviously most of my work is under NDA, but here's a cool example of something I did this past year that I can actually talk about, high performance traffic measurement by IP address class. This is a good example of a real world task where CS theory is only part of the picture. Most of this project was systems (understanding Linux and its Traffic Control stack) and networking (understanding how to dissect and parse IP packets).
