how does the project Enoch attachment actually work?
As I recall there are some real life technologies that can do something similar: Wearable Microphone Jamming. From a practical out of universe standpoint I wouldn't be surprised if that is where the lore for that originated.

Interesting to note that someone opened an issue in the linked GitHub repo mentioning that the system doesn't work wit iPhone 8 and above:
